4 Days Rwanda Tour – Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Rwanda – Kigali International Airport

It’s a long-hour flight before you land at Kigali International Airport. The awesome smile of our guide will give you a fresh dawn of your day in Rwanda.

The guide will transfer you to the respective Hotel for relaxation and overnight.

Accommodation: Kigali Serena Hotel (Upmarket/luxury), Hotel Chez Lando (Midrange/standard) or Discover Rwanda Youth Hostel (Budget/basic).

Day 2: Drive to Volcanoes National Park & Encounter Iby’wachu Village.

Take a city tour after breakfast to encounter favorite spots like genocide memorial sites, Kigali’s historical buildings and sites plus the craft centers.

Return to the Hotel for Lunch before embarking on your 116 km transfer to Volcanoes National Park over 3 hour’s drive.

Enjoy great scenery en route. You can pay a visit to Iby’wachu village to encounter the Kinyarwanda culture.

Accommodation: Muhabura hotel (Budget/basic), Mountain gorilla View Lodge (Luxury/upmarket) or Lapalme lodge (Midrange/standard)

Day 3: Undertake Gorilla Trekking Expedition.

After an early breakfast, gather at the park headquarters at Kinigi to prepare for the prime activity of the day – gorilla trekking.

You will be briefed preferably by the park warden or his representative about the conducted activity. This starts at 08:00 am and can last 30 min – 1 hour.

Head to the forest to spot these endangered species; something that is over 2 – 8 hours of trek. After one hour of encounter with gorillas, return to the lodge for relaxation. In the evening, you venture to the Twin Lakes on a nature walk.

Accommodation: Dinner and overnight at your previous lodge.

Day 4: Track Golden Monkeys & Encounter The Graveyard of Dian Fossey

After breakfast, you can opt to do golden monkey tracking in the Volcanoes National Park where you will be able to see these rare and endangered species that thrive only in the Virunga Volcano.

The golden skin and the structure of their nose give them a unique outlook. This activity starts at 08:00 am and takes about 4 hours.

Alternatively, you can hike the Dian Fossey grave at the Karisoke Research Center to pay tribute to one of the most well-known conservationists who have ever lived on this planet.

The grave of her admirable silverback – Digit also lies in close proximity and thus can be encountered on this gorilla trekking safari in Rwanda.

This activity involves a relative climb and lasts 3 -4 hours. Return for lunch at the lodge after which you will transfer back to Kigali city.
