Day 1: Arrive at Kigali International Airport and transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park at your lodge

9 Days Uganda Rwanda Safari Tour – Highlights

Day 1: Arrive at Kigali International Airport And Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park at Your Lodge

Upon arrival in Kigali, you will meet and greet with your Uganda safari guide who will warmly receive you.

After meeting, your guide will give you a short briefing about your 9 days trip in Uganda and after you will transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park to a lodge that was prior booked for you. Arrive, check in, relax and dine.

Day 2: Have Breakfast Early in The Morning And After Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Wake up to an early morning breakfast at your lodge, transfer with your driver guide to the park headquarters for your chimpanzee trekking activity.

This chimpanzee trekking Rwanda safari starts at 8am with a briefing for the rangers. The rangers will then lead you to the forest to see the chimpanzees all the way through the jungle forest, hiking in the steep slopes amidst several sightings for about 2-5 hours.

Once you spot them, you will be stunned by the way the chimps play around in the trees with their human like characters. Retire for your lunch.

In the afternoon at 2pm, you will start your canopy walk in the forest that you explored early in the morning as you trekked the chimpanzees, walking on a bridge that is about 50m above the ground and 200meters long.

This is a breathtaking experience that cannot be compared to any other activity in this park.  The 2 hours walk starts and ends at the Uwinka tourist reception center at the park headquarters.

During this walk, you will sight variety of bird species that will be passing by, birds in the trees, and several tree species. Retreat from the activity and return to your lodge for dinner.

Day 3: On This Day, You Will Depart Nyungwe And Cross The Border to Bwindi Forest National Park Uganda

After breakfast at your lodging facility, you will drive to the border, cross to Uganda and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to a lodge that was planned and booked for your stay on this day. Arrive at your accommodation facility, relax from the long journey, dine and rest.

Day 4: Do Your Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park And Later go To Lake Bunyonyi

Very early in the morning after your breakfast at the lodge, your driver guide will pick you up and transfer you to the park headquarters where you will be required to register and after have a briefing from the park rangers about the do’s and don’ts of a gorilla trekking safari at 8am.

After the briefing, the rangers will then lead you into the forest to track these gentle giants. This rewarding activity will give you opportunity to observe the gorillas as they interact with each other, as they look for food, build their nets, and play around you.

Mountain gorilla trekking is a pleasing and unforgettable experience. While with them, you will only be restricted to an hour witnessing the interaction of these close relatives of ours after sending about 2-8 hours looking for them.

Depending on how you will be feeling after the activity, you may go for a late afternoon community walk to see the local people’s way of life and cultures. After the all this, you will return to the lodge, freshen up, dine and relax.

Day 5: Depart The Lodge And Go To Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast, you and your guide will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is the second largest park after Murchison Falls National Park is famous for boasting the highest bio-diversity of all game parks in Uganda; lakes, forests, Savannah grassland as well as wetlands.

You will drive through the Ishasha sector that is famous for its tree climbing lions, where you will do a game drive and if you get lucky, you will spot these tree climbing lions.

You will have lunch in Ishasha and after you will proceed to the lodge that was booked for you.

Day 6: Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early morning coffee at the lodge, head for a game drive along Kasenyi tracks inside Queen Elizabeth National Park in search for animals like: lions, cape buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, waterbucks, spotted hyenas, mangoose, kobs.

During your game drive still, you will sight several birdlife in the park. This park has over 606 bird species have been recorded in this park and most notably during your afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga channel.

You will return for full breakfast at the lodge, relax have lunch and prepare for yet another exciting activity in the afternoon; the boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel.

After lunch, you will transfer to enjoy a unique 2 hours boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This launch cruise will give you a great opportunity for photography, viewing several water animals and bird watching at close range. After the activities, return to the lodge for diner and overnight

Day 7: Leave Queen Elizabeth National Park And Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After your breakfast, you will transfer to Kibale forest national park giving you opportunity to visit to the palace of the Tooro kingdom for a cultural and historical brief.

Proceed and have lunch shall be served in Fort portal town before proceeding to visit the crater lakes and then head to your hotel for a night before yet an exciting activity of Chimpanzee trekking activity the next day.

Day 8: Go For Your Chimpanzee Trekking Safari in Kibale Forest National Park And Bigodi Swamp Walk

After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to Kanyanchu the headquarters at 8am for a briefing about the do’s and don’ts of chimpanzee trekking tour by the park warden and ranger guides, and after, you will be led into the rain forest in search of chimpanzees.

These primates are very mobile and viewing them is unpredictable but a forest walk is an enriching activity and takes about 4 hours.

This forest is home to a large number of primates including the biggest number of chimpanzees as well as other primates including Lhoestes, grey cheeked mangabeys, Red-colobus, Red-tailed, birds, and butterflies.

You will get back at the lodge in time for lunch and if you have energy in the afternoon, go for a Bigodi swamp walk for yet more primates and bird watching with an optional opportunity to meet and interact with the local communities living here. The meal plan for this day is breakfast, lunch and dinner at your preferred accommodation.

Day 9: Drive to Kampala

Have breakfast and later drive to Kampala to end your safari having a lunch stopover.
Transfer to your hotel OR to the Airport for your flight back home.
