7 Days Rwanda Uganda Safari Tour – Overview

This is a 7 Days Rwanda Uganda Safari Tour that offers Mountain gorilla trekking in Uganda in Bwindi Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe, wildlife, community tours, and beautiful scenery seeing starting and ending in Kigali Rwanda, or Kampala Uganda.

The 7 days Uganda and Rwanda safari will take you to Nyungwe Forest National Park, a park that habits the oldest forest in Rwanda where you will find chimpanzees as well as do a canopy walk high in the forest above the canopies sighting several primates as well as several bird species.

After Nyungwe Forest National Park, cross the border to Uganda and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Uganda where you will have a wonderful experience of seeing some of the remaining population of mountain gorillas in the world.

Day 1: Arrive in Kigali at the airport and transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park to your prior booked hotel.

Day 2: Do chimpanzee trekking in the morning in Nyungwe Forest National Park and canopy walk in the afternoon.

Day 3: Depart Nyungwe and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to your booked hotel.

Day 4: Do gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and the Batwa trail (optional) depending on how you will be feeling.

7 Days Rwanda Uganda Safari Tour – Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Kigali at The Airport And Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park to Your Prior Booked Hotel.

Arrive in Kigali at the airport, meet our professional safari guide who will welcome you, give you a short briefing about your 7 days safari tour in Uganda Rwanda.

Prepare to depart Kigali for Nyungwe National Park Rwanda driving through the rolling hills, a journey that will take you around 8 hours via the Ruhengeri-Gisenyi road.

Arrive in Nyungwe National Park at your prior booked accommodation in the park.

Day 2: Do Chimpanzee Trekking in The Morning in Nyungwe Forest National Park and a Canopy Walk in The afternoon.

After your early morning breakfast, you and your driver guide drive to the park offices for a short briefing about how to conserve the forest when trekking the chimpanzees (do’s and the don’ts of chimpanzee trekking).

You will then enter into the forest for your Rwanda chimpanzee trekking safari with the rangers to search for the chimpanzees.

During your chimpanzee trekking safari Uganda, you will watch some chimpanzees on the ground and others in the branches of the trees in the forest.

Expect to hear chimpanzees make several sounds, chattering, laughing and watching them jump from one branch to another.

While you look for the chimps expect to spot more primates like the white and black Columbus, vervet monkey, manage-ably.

Trekking takes about 4 hours so take as many photos and videos as you can. Return to the lodge for lunch and refresh as well.

After lunch, go for your afternoon canopy walk, on a bridge that is suspended from large trees. While there, you will be able to have a great amazing view of the rain forest spotting a good number of birds in the forest as well wildlife moving about below you. This activity takes about 2hours. Retreat from the activity and return to the lodge.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park to Your Prior Booked Accommodation

After breakfast at your lodge, you will hit the road for a road trip to Bwindi Forest National Park via the Rwanda–Uganda border driving through the Kigezi High lands and if you wish, may take a visit to Lake Bunyonyi, a birders’ paradise before proceeding to Bwindi National Park.

Upon arrival, check in at your lodge/ hotel, rest or take astride to the nearing villages and communities. Later, dinner and overnight at Chameleon Hill (Luxury), Bakiga Lodge (Midrange).

Day 4: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Pygmies

Wake up early morning, enjoy breakfast and report to the park headquarters at the Park offices by 7:30 am; for morning briefing about the code of conduct when trekking for mountain gorillas.

After this, embark on your amazing expedition and on meeting the gorillas, enjoy an hour observing their behavior as they continue with their daily activities in your presence; not forgetting to take photographs and videos for this memorable encounter.

In the afternoon, engage in a guide walk to the Batwa homesteads for local entertainment from these early human dwellers of Bwindi Forest. Dinner and overnight at Chameleon Hill (Luxury), Bakiga Lodge (Midrange ).

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park via the Ishasha Sector

Have morning breakfast at your lodge, and set off for Queen Elizabeth National Park; En route enjoy the beautiful terraces of Kigezi Highlands; driving through the Ishasha sector, watch out for the unique tree climbing lions.

Upon arrival, proceed with an amazing evening game drive through the Savannah grasslands. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge (Luxury), Park View Lodge (Midrange).

Day 6: Do a Morning Game Drive in The Park And Launch Cruise on The Kazinga Channel

Early in the morning at around 6am, you will be picked by your driver guide for your early morning game drive in the park.

Early morning game drives are very rich as you will be able to catch a glimpse of the early risers and late-night hunters before they go into hiding or before they start off with their daily activities in the jungle.

You will see many animals including Elephants, Uganda kobs, Antelopes, baboons, buffaloes, warthogs, tree climbing lions and several birdlife.

The morning game drive lasts about 3-4 hours depending on your interests. Return to the lodge for breakfast, relax and have your lunch there.

In the afternoon after your lunch, you will do a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel; a river that connects Lake Edward and Lake George.

While on the boat, expect to see lots of water animals including; hippos and crocodiles. You will also see lots wildlife along the river banks as they quench their thirst.

As part of your adventure still, you will also sight a variety of bird species along the shores. All these moment s will leave you with unforgettable memories. The boat cruise takes about 2 hours and after you will return to the lodge, dine and overnight.

Day 7: Morning Game Drive and Return to Kigali

Rise very in the morning and embark on a morning game drive at 6am to catch a glimpse of the early risers and late-night hunters before they go into hiding or start off with their daily activities in the jungle.

Return, mid-morning to your lodge and get ready for your transfer to Kigali. If you arrive early engage in a city tour before drop off at either a hotel or airport.
