Situated in Volcanoes National Park Rwanda with a height of about 3711meters (12,175ft), Mount Bisoke is a perfect description of a Volcano characterized with a deep crater lake and the largest in the range.

Mount Bisoke last erupted in 1957, and straddles the border of Rwanda and Congo however, its peak and the two craters are in Rwanda.

It being the easiest volcanic mountain in the Virunga ranges that can be hiked or trekked while on a safari in Rwanda, the Mount Bisoke adventure is one of the best memorable activities to do in Volcanoes National Park Rwanda.

Hiking to the top of this mountain lasts about 6 hours including the 2 hours used to descend down to the starting point.

On the day of hiking this mountain, the clients are required to be at Kinigi by 7am for the mountain hiking safari Rwanda/Rwanda hiking safaris by the park rangers; these are normally natives of this area that are very knowledgeable about the mountaineering adventures.

After the briefing, the ranger distributes the nicely crafted hiking sticks and after will lead you through the trails until you reach the top.

You may be required to take porters with you for they may provide a push or pull through the challenging spots, such as muddy, steep & slippery.

During your hike, you will admire the beautiful green flora and fauna that this mountain harbors and many of them are unique to the Virunga and the Albertine region.

As part of your adventure, you may encounter Mountain Gorillas, Golden Monkeys, Forest Elephants, Buffaloes, and lots of birds in the forest.

Once you get to the summit, you will be rewarded with a magnificent rare natural beauty of the Crater Lake, mountain vegetation, dropping clouds, cloudy peaks of Mountains Karisimbi and Mikeno in the Democratic Republic of Congo. You will see how beautiful the experience is!

How To Dress

Be ready in your Sturdy boots, in a long-sleeved shirt, long trousers, head gear. have a rain rain-jacket with you, hat with wide brim, and have a day-pack including water and packed lunch. You may also decide to carry something else you think may be helpful for your health.
